Abstract/Summary

A recurrent problem arising in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquakes is whether property insurers, having indemnified policyholders by effecting repairs or paying losses, are in any way responsible to make good defects in rebuilding work. This article seeks to examine the circumstances in which such further obligations might arise.
