Abstract/Summary

This is an exploration of the role played by untranslated titles and other meta-textual elements in an early collection of poems by William Carlos Williams. It uses this entry point to discuss the poet's bi-cultural background and its relation to avant-garde publishing and its relation to audiences and to locality.
