Abstract/Summary

Wood charcoal and waterlogged analyses undertaken on substantial assemblages from Saxon age sites at Springhead and Northfleet on the route of HS1 are reported. Contexts examined include two crop dryers, domestic hearths, and from a Saxon mill. Results clarify the use of a range of wood types for structural and fuel purposes
