Scaling Up - AI and Creative Tech. Report. UK Parliament, Westminster. pp7.

Abstract/Summary

In this report, research by the Synthetic Media Research Network is presented to support the inquiry by the House of Lords Communication and Digital Committee entitled 'Scaling Up: AI and creative tech', with particular attention to its first area of focus: technology in the creative industries. The report responds to four questions: 1. What specific barriers do SMEs face when seeking to scale in AI, and in creative technology? 2. How effectively are existing organisations (such as UKRI), catalyst programmes, industry schemes and other Government initiatives addressing these issues? 3. What further measures (financial and non-financial) are needed to address barriers to scale in AI, and creative technology? 4. What role do academic institutions play here, and what can be done to boost commercial links with AI and creative technology?
