Abstract/Summary
This is a chapter from a collection on T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land on the occasion of its centenary. It argues that the significance of the poem, its successes and failures, can be better understood by returning to its process of composition so as to get behind and beyond the monolith of its production as a critically received completed work.
