Abstract/Summary

An overview of type-making from the late 1970s to the present day. This essay discusses the development of type-face design and fount manufacturing processes and practices for different scripts as seen from the perspective of a practitioner (whose early career was with the British Linotype company) and with the longer view of a type historian.
