Abstract/Summary

This chapter discusses the translation strategies adopted by the author in translating one of Emily Apter's key texts (the chapter 'Sex and Gender' from Apter's Against Wolrd Literature: On the Politics of Untranslatability, London: Verso, 2013). The discussion frames the author's approach within the 'translator's visibility' framework (Lawrence Venuti) and situates some of the translating strategies within the discourse on untranslatability developed by Apter and others.
