Abstract/Summary

This legal analysis critically examines the provisions of the Whistleblower Protection Bill 2011 in Nigeria. The objective of the Bill is to provide provisions to encourage whistleblowers to come forward with information relating to illegal and corrupt practices. This legal analysis argues that while the Bill is welcomed, the provisions fall short of offering specific measures for whistleblowers if their identity is compromised. This legal analysis concludes that the absence of these provisions could render the Bill ineffective from the position of both the whistleblower and the current administration.
