Enever, J. (2018) Policy and politics in global primary English. Oxford Applied Linguistics. Oxford University Press, Oxford, pp208. ISBN 978-0-19-420054-7

Abstract/Summary

This volume explores the complex forces that shape national and local language education policy-making for the early introduction of English as a foreign language at primary and pre-primary levels worldwide. The book addresses such problematic issues as regional soft policy, assessment, accountability, transparency and standardisation in education, critiquing the realistic potential for early English to contribute to improved future life chances under such conditions.
