Mathijssen, B. (2013) Religiosity in ecclesial and non-ecclesial funeral rites exploring Whitehouse’s modes of religiosity. Yearbook for Ritual and Liturgical Studies, 29. pp. 149-171. ISSN 0924-042X

Abstract/Summary

The goal of this article is to explore the characteristics of religiosity in the Dutch ecclesial and non-ecclesial ritual field. In 2002 only 56 percent of funerals in the Netherlands were held in church and, even though this percentage is still dropping, there is a great need for ritual in these transitional periods in life.
