Flanagan, R. and Jewell, C., (2022) Quality planning for micro, small and medium sized enterprises. Technical Information Sheet. 6. Technical Report. Chartered Institute of Building, London. pp28. ISBN 9781739959210

Abstract/Summary

Quality planning is increasingly important as the construction industry seeks to improve quality performance. Legislation, standards, clients, and the public are seeking higher quality. ISO 9001:2015 is the generic standard across all industries for quality management and is further supplemented by BS 99001:2022 - Quality managements systems which imposes new requirements for the built environment. Small and medium sized enterprises cannot rely on trust, they must plan to deliver quality, and to be compliant. Quality planning must be part of every organisation’s approach to quality management. Good quality output means repeat and new business. The CIOB construction quality framework aims to create greater awareness of the factors influencing quality management for projects, and the need to focus upon the 6Cs for successful quality planning. Micro, small, and medium sized businesses need help to embed quality planning into their management of quality systems.
